Odessians celebrated the International Day of Animal Protection
In the shelter for the homeless animals "The Ark" of the Odessa Union of Protection of Animals celebrated the International Day of Animal Protection.
On this day, people who love animals and traditionally support the "Ark" and its inhabitants traditionally gather here. Guests brought to the orphanage what is always necessary - dry food, cereals, medicines, and, of course, a good mood and sweet treats.
Among the guests are children and adults, those who came to the "Ark" many years ago, and those who began to help the shelter quite recently.
"Today the people closest to us, those who not just in words but in fact have proved that they love animals," - says the vice-president of the Union Irina Momot. - I believe that with the appearance of these people in our life, the "Ark" has grown wings - these are patrons who today provide invaluable assistance to the shelter and its inhabitants, and in general homeless animals. "
So, thanks to patrons in Odessa, an ambulance was working for animals, for which the zooists have struggled for many years with the city authorities. The officials did not manage to reach an agreement, but, fortunately, there were people who took this job for themselves.
"For me, the most important thing is that among our friends there are many children! Nicholas Roerich once said that the world will save the children, it is with children that a revival of spirituality and morality will begin. And I am very grateful that there are such children in Odessa! These are small people with big hearts, in which adults, especially officials, should learn goodness, participation and morality, "says the zoo-defender.
Today in the "Ark" consistently contains more than 300 dogs and 50 cats, almost half of all animals are disabled. The doors of the "Ark" are open for all comers not only on a holiday, but also on any other day. All the inhabitants of the shelter really need, if not in a new master, then simply in human attention and affection.
We add that the holiday was traditionally organized by the President of the Union for the Protection of Animals, the owner of the shelter "The Ark" Svetlana Khimchenko.
